"No man is prejudiced in favor of a thing, knowing it to be wrong. He is attached to it on the belief of its being right; and when he sees it is not so, the prejudice will be gone." - Tom Paine

The Imperiators

Let's see, the salvation boys down on Pennsylvania Avenue hire a male prostitute to throw softballs at the C+ el prezidente as part of the White House press corps with a temp pass for two years of "Jeff you have a question" with no check on his background even though he uses an alias on his pass and old Tom Ridge is supposed to be hunting down the wackos like never before but this guy gets front row center at all of w's pretend real moments in front of the 'merican people.. oh yeah.

I like Janet's boob and I don't know if I object to Gannon (ne: Guckert) selling his companionship on the internet but I take issue with the hypocritical bastards who sell Ivory Snow while they run Tortures Are Us and let's see if we can get them to vote between car bombs in the lesser god quarters of the world. Anyhow, read the American Progress Report: Don't Give Gannon A Pass.

Cheap oil is a myth that the G-8 countries keep buying and the Saudi "republic" and Russian "confederation" keep on shilling while reserves deplete, prices go Way up with nary a new mega field in sight, w. gives his tax break to the hummer and confiscates his neighbor's fuel in the name of freedom. Read Andrew McKillop on OPEC "overcapacity" is the Mother of all Cheap Oil Myths on VHeadline.com, a Venezuelan news site in a country that must take the politics of imperialism seriously.

While visiting VHead and thinking about cheap oil, global warming, etc., check out the weather news in Venezuela revealing the real world wide web of one earth which the current crop of imperiators doesn't seem to grasp.

If you're tired of all this political stuff (it's really fun if you roll up your cuffs and remember it's not a private fight, anyone can join in) buy this book Spirited Men by Brian Doyle - seriously go buy it, now. Doyle not only has a world to say but the true gift to say it. Here he is on Van Morrison, a Celtic god of near and ancient history:

"We could hardly believe that the short, pudgy replica of the gray nerd who sat behind you through a whole semester of Driver Education and never spoke a word, that absolute antithesis of every Superstar image ever stamped in our skulls, could be the helmsman of this wild night's ride," wrote the rock critic Lester Bangs. I read that remark years later and yawped with delighted surprise, for that had been the exact feeling I'd had in the smoky bar in Boston, sitting there with my jaw hanging open as Van strutted exuberantly offstage after an incendiary version of "Caravan." Van Morrison, a musical genius, the greatest white soul singer ever, creator of music and emotion unlike any musician before or since, is that guy?

Substance and illusion, that's the lesson. Packaging is a fool, a lie, a dog that don't hunt, a pile of manure, a sneer in the ear, a dodge, a maneuver, a sleight of hand, a baloney sandwich. There's substance on this side of the river and illusion on that side and they are brothers who fight so bitterly that the river where they battle flees its bed in terror as the brothers who love each other hammer each other nigh unto death. Substance wears a concealing cloak that makes him a shadow, a cloak from the land of promise.
